Rebels Drop a Heartbreaker at Arkansas

The Ole Miss Rebels basketball team dropped a heartbreaker in the closing seconds 74-73 to the Arkansas Razorbacks inside Bud Walton Arena.

Ole Miss (19-10, 9-7) had possession of the ball with 5.9 seconds remaining to win the game and the Razorbacks forced a turnover to secure the win.

The Rebels were led in scoring by junior Breein Tyree with 20 points. Tyree only had 3 points in the first 20-minutes of action as he was in foul trouble. After halftime, he found his rhythm hitting 8-of-14 for 17 points.

Arkansas was led on the court by Daniel Gafford with 17 points with his teammate Jalen Harris pulled down 9 rebounds.

Ole Miss controlled the game during the first half with the biggest lead of 8 at the 9:49 mark. Coach Kermit Davis’s squad shot 50 percent from the field in the half.

At halftime, the Rebels took a one-point advantage at 35-34 into the locker room.

Arkansas opened the final 20-minutes of action on a 4-0 run to take a lead. From that point, it was a back-and-forth affair with a total of 21 lead changes with four ties.

The Rebels finished the game showing 53.7 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from beyond the arc in the game. The Razorbacks shot over 50 percent in the game.

Ole Miss out-rebounded Arkansas 30-21 in the contest.

Ole Miss returns home on Tuesday night to play host to the Kentucky Wildcats. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
