From the National Weather Service in Memphis

Almost 11 inches of rain has fallen on the LOU community in the last seven days, according to the National Weather Service, leave several area roads under water this morning.

Another 2 inches of rain is expected today before midnight.

Oxford’s chance for severe thunderstorms has been upgraded to a Moderate Risk.

Widespread damaging winds will be the primary threat. Secondary threats include tornadoes – particularly over the Moderate Risk area – and large hail.

Due to saturated soils, large trees may be downed by sub-severe wind gusts.

The severe storm threat will end by early evening.

Breezy conditions are forecast outside of thunderstorms today. A Wind Advisory is in effect for all the Midsouth except for areas near the Tennessee River valley.

Lafayette County is currently under a Flash Flood Watch and Flood Warnings have been issued for Little Tallahatchie Canal and Yocona River.

Lafayette County Emergency Management reported Highway 314 (CR 100) is closed due to water over the bypass.

Traffic will need to go from CR 100 to CR 107 to CR 105 to Highway 6. Traffic needing to get to that area will get off Highway 6 into CR 105, turn left onto CR 105, which will carry them to CR 100.

The Road Department has also reported that County Roads 428, 383, 107, 334, 129 and 457 currently have water on them.

Highway 7 North at CR 101 is also closed due to flooding.
