OPD Arrests 4 in Unrelated Crimes of Theft
The Oxford Police Department has made several arrests in the last week for crimes of theft, according to a press release.
On Feb. 11, investigators arrested Martize Wallace, 28 of Olive Branch, for burglary of a dwelling. On Feb. 7, OPD officers took a report that someone broke into a house and stole a television. Through the investigation, it was determined that Wallace was the one who allegedly stole the television from the victim’s house. Wallace was transported to the Detention Center and given a bond of $5,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
On Feb. 15, OPD took a report from someone who claimed a Misty Douglas, 37, of Sardis took their property. Information was given that Douglas was in possession of the property while at court. The alleged victim signed charges. Douglas was arrested Feb. 17 and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where she was charged with grand theft and given a $10,000 bond by a Justice Court Judge.
On Feb. 4, officers with the Oxford Police Department took a report of credit card fraud. During the course of the investigation, OPD identified the person using the stolen card as Mona Johnson, 40 of Batesville. A warrant was issued for felony credit card fraud and was served by the Panola County Sheriff’s Department on Feb. 15. Johnson was transported to the Detention Center and given a bond of $5,000.
On Feb. 15, officers responded to a report of an auto burglary where the suspect allegedly stole an iPhone. Officers located the suspect and identified him as Anthony Sockwell, 31 of Oxford. He was subsequently arrested for one count of auto burglary and transported to the Detention Center. Sockwell was given a bond of $5,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
