The Ole Miss women’s basketball team returns to action this evening as they travel to Stegeman Coliseum to face the Georgia Bulldogs. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. on the SEC Network.
Ole Miss (9-16, 3-8 SEC) is coming off a 65-60 win over Vanderbilt at home on Valentine’s Day. Senior Crystal Allen found her rhythm as she tallied 23 points in the win.
This season, Allen, La Karis Salter and Shandricka Sessom have all been cornerstones of the Rebel offense. Two have scored in double-digits in 10 of 11 conference games so far, averaging a combined 38.5 PPG while shooting 88 percent from the free throw line and hitting 60 of the 65 Rebel three-pointers in SEC play (92.3 percent).
Georgia (14-10, 5-6 SEC) rolls into the contest after falling to South Carolina on the road. The Bulldogs currently lead the conference with the best shooting defense, allowing just 35.9 percent to opponents.
Georgia has three players averaging double figures each night on the court — Caliya Robinson (13.7 ppg), Gabby Connally (12.6 ppg) and Taja Cole (11.0 ppg).
This evening’s game will be the 48th all-time meeting in the series. Georgia has the advantage in Athens, 18-1. Ole Miss’ last win was in 2010 over then No. 8 Georgia, 66-65.
Fans can watch all the action on the SEC Network or listen to the call on Ole Miss Radio.
