Double Decker Bus Tours Offer a Fun Way to Learn About Oxford
See Oxford in a whole new way this spring and learn more about our “little postage stamp of native soil” while taking a ride on the city’s iconic Double Decker buses.
The Double Decker public historic driving tours will kick off on March 15.
Imported from England to Oxford in 1994, the Double Decker buses are a staple in the Oxford community.
“We began doing the Double Decker bus tours about eight years ago to give people the opportunity to experience and learn about Oxford’s unique history,” said Visit Oxford Director Mary Allyn Hedges. “The Double Decker bus offers the perfect vantage point to enjoy all Oxford has to offer.”
Public tours will be offered Fridays of every home SEC baseball game weekend. Each tour departs from the Visit Oxford office at 1013 Jackson Ave East and has a tour guide who will tell the story of Oxford along the way.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Adult tickets also come with $100 off a purchase of Blue Delta Jeans.
Each tour is an hour-long drive through historic Oxford and the University of Mississippi campus. Take a trip through time on the historic Double Decker buses while enjoying historic points of interest including North and South Lamar boulevards, the downtown Square, the Lyceum and Civil Right marker as well as other points of interest on the University of Mississippi campus.
The spring schedule kicks off on March 15 with the Ole Miss vs. Alabama baseball series, followed by the Florida baseball series on April 5, the Kentucky series on April 12 and the Texas A&M series along with the Double Decker Arts Festival on April 26. May 10 rounds out the spring bus schedule which is the Mississippi State baseball series and the University of Mississippi graduation weekend.
All tours begin at 4 p.m, with the addition of a 3 p.m. tour for the April 26 and May 10 dates. Call the Visit Oxford office at 662-232-2477 to reserve a seat.
