OPD Nabs Two Alleged Repeat DUI Offenders
Two local men face felony DUI charges after being arrested last week by the Oxford Department while allegedly driving under the influence in unrelated events.
At about 11:40 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, OPD officers stopped a vehicle on University Avenue for speeding. During the course of the traffic stop, the officer suspected the driver, Jessie Dunn, 26, of Abbeville, was driving under the influence. After a DUI investigation, Dunn was arrested for DUI.
Officers learned Dunn has at least two prior DUI convictions within the last five years. He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was charged with DUI-Third, driving while license suspended, no insurance and speeding and booked on a $5,000 bond.
On Sunday, at about 10 p.m., OPD officers responded to a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 7. During the investigation, officers on scene suspected one of the drivers, Teddy Mullin, 42, of Oxford was under the influence of alcohol. A DUI investigation ensued and Mullin was arrested and charged with DUI.
Officers soon learned Mullin has three prior DUI convictions. He was taken to the Detention Center where he was charged with DUI-Fourth and booked on a $4,000 bond.
