The Oxford Film Festival (OFF) hosts its Opening Night Red Carpet on Thursday with a special presentation of John Stimpson’s film “Ghost Light.”
Stimpson’s film combines laughs and scares as an understudy, aiming for the lead role and the leading lady during a traveling production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, unleashes mayhem by disregarding the time-honored superstitions that go along with staging “The Scottish Tragedy.” The film stars an impressive cast including Cary Elwes, Roger Bart, Carol Kane, Shannyn Sossamon, Danielle Campbell, and Tom Riley.
This year, Opening Night will also feature a special presentation of the film festival’s Lisa Blount Memorial Acting Award to Roger Bart, one of the stars of “Ghost Fire.”
On the occasion of the Oxford Film Festival’s Opening Night presentation of “Ghost Light,” the festival decided it would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate Bart’s stellar work in front of the camera over the course of his career.
Whether you are a huge genre fans and have appreciated his work in films like Hostel: Part II, The Midnight Meat Train, and Excision, or you’ve been impressed by Bart’s characters in films like American Gangster, The Producers, Last Vegas, and Trumbo, he has proved himself to e an “actor’s actor”.
The festival said it could have put together a clip reel featuring nothing but the great moments Bart has had on TV (like “Desperate Housewives,” for example), but in this case – OFF said it feels more than fine just sticking to the movies.
