LOU Crime and Emergency Calls from Jan. 28, 2019

The following reports were made Jan. 28, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 28 tickets, investigated eight wrecks and the following reports:
7 alarms
1 ambulance assist
1 animal complaint
1 civil matter
4 disturbing the peace complaints
2 domestic disturbances
1 elderly assist
1 fire department assist
2 larcenies
1 malicious mischief
2 motorist assists
1 property damage
1 recovered property
1 scam
1 suspicious person
3 vehicle searches
3 welfare checks

OPD officers made the following arrests:
1 domestic violence with simple assault
1 DUI and one headlight
1 DUI, one headlight and driving while license suspended
1 petty theft
1 possession of a schedule 1 drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, no tag and speeding
1 possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing
1 shoplifting
2 for trespassing

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made one arrest for family disturbance and investigated the following reports:
2 alarms
3 animal complaints
1 residential burglary (CR 5007)
2 disturbances
3 harassment3
5 service calls
1 suspicious activity
4 transports
3 informational reports
1 road obstruction
1 civil matter

University Police Department investigated two wrecks and the following reports:
1 suspicious vehicle
1 sexual battery
1 email to defraud

 

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
1/25 – 09:39 – Marco’s Pizza – workers activated a smoke detector
1/25 – 11:21 – Guyton Hall – workers stirring up massage amount of dust in the basement activated a smoke detector
1/25 – 13:05 – 1100 Tyler Ave. – changing out sprinkler heads activated the water flow alarm
1/25 – 17:43 – 1338 Whippoorwill Drive – unauthorized burning in the backyard
1/25 – 20:34 – Popeyes – subject passed out in the drive-thru – OPD and EMS already on scene
1/25 – 21:28 – 301 Thacker Loop – call was a “vehicle fire” – no fire, subject had run through a yard, got stuck and wanted OFD to pull them out
1/26 – 05:56 – Pi Kappa Alpha house room 206 – smoke detector malfunction
1/26 – 12:49 – Hwy. 7 south – wreck with injuries – checked for injuries and placed collars on two patients
1/27 – 16:32 – Oxford Conference Center – workers accidentally bumped into a pull station fire alarm
1/27 – 17:45 – Turnberry Condos – a 2-year-old dead-bolted a lock and locked the baby sitter out – FD forced the door open
1/28 – 10:47 – Tri Delta House – hair dryer activated a smoke detector
1/28 – 11:31 – 337 Windsor Dr. N. – carbon monoxide detector malfunction
1/28 – 12:31 – 805 Maplewood – chest pains – monitored patient until EMS arrived
1/28 – 12:46 – 2211 South Lamar – called advised her car was on fire – the fire was out upon arrival
1/28 – 13:19 – 403 Ridgewood Manor – resident heard a buzzing sound in the house – it was a malfunction with the doorbell
1/28 – 17:27 – 1501 Taylor Cottage Cove – caller advised there was a fire in the woods in the area – small control burn
1/29 – 06:46 – BMH – call canceled
