The following reports were made Jan. 23, 2019, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.
Oxford Police Department issued 25 tickets, investigated six wrecks and the following reports:

2 code enforcement
1 domestic disturbance
1 improper parking
1 K9 search
1 shoplifting
1 simple assault
3 suspicious activities
2 suspicious people
1 vehicle search
2 welfare checks
OPD officers made the following arrests:
1 DUI-second, suspended driver’s license, careless driving, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and no insurance
1 DUI and careless driving
1 public drunk
2 possession of drug paraphernalia and no seat belt
1 failure to yield to emergency vehicle, no tag, no insurance, excessive speed and possession of a fake ID
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made no arrests and investigated the following reports:
2 alarms
1 malicious mischief
1 disturbance
2 suspicious activities
1 scam
2 transports
4 informational reports
1 road obstruction
1 civil matter
1 911 hang-up
University Police Department served a warrant, investigated one wreck and the following reports:
1 suspicious vehicle
1 possession of alcohol by a person under 21
1 intoxicated person
1 EMS due to an intoxicated person
1 possession of alcohol by a person under 21
1 fire department assist
1 suspicious person
UPD officers made the following arrests:
1 possession of a controlled substance
1 improper left turn, suspended driver’s license, possession of drug
1 simple assault on a police officer, public drunk and disorderly conduct
2 possession of drug paraphernalia
1 public drunk
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
1/23 – 8:24 a.m. – Southern Coop – call canceled
1/23 – 7:51 p.m. – 226 Forest Glen Drive – food caught fire in the microwave
1/23 – 7:52 p.m. – 542 Bickerstaff – burned bacon activated a smoke detector
1/24 – 12:43 a.m. – Pi Kappa Alpha house – third-floor stairway smoke detector malfunction
1/24 – 5:40 a.m. – 115 Price Hill – carbon monoxide detector malfunction (bad detector)
1/24 – 11:10 a.m. & 4:08 p.m. – Residential Hall 3 – workers accidentally sprayed water into a smoke detector
1/24 – 11:48 a.m. – Hathorn Road at Coy Waller Building – a car hit a power pole knocking down wires – no injuries
1/24 – 4:55 p.m. – 232 Olde Castle Loop – cooking activated a smoke detector
1/24 – 11:43 p.m. – 124 Chinkapin Loop – smoke detector beeping – low battery
