Speeding Leads to Felony DUI-Fourth Arrest
The Oxford Police Department arrested an Oxford man for driving under the influence after he ran off the road.
On Dec. 15, an officer with OPD clocked a speeding vehicle driving south on Highway 7. The officer turned around and attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but instead found the vehicle in a ditch.
The driver, Martin Simmons, 28, was tested for driving under the influence via a blood warrant. Simmons has at least three prior DUI convictions and has a pending DUI-fourth charge from an Aug. 25 arrest by OPD officers.
Simmons was charged with DUI-Fouth, no insurance, driving while license suspended, speeding and failing to comply with an officer. He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was booked on a $10,000 bond.
