The residents of Oxmoor Place may soon have a new speed bump inside their subdivision.
On Monday, Lafayette County Board of Supervisors President Jeff Busby said he recently received a letter from Ray Chapman, president of the Oxmoor Place Homeowners Association, requesting a speed bump at the entrance into the subdivision off Industrial Park Road to help “protect our children at play.”
“There has been a large increase of traffic there because of new developments being built and construction going on inside the subdivision,” Busby said Monday.
Oxmoor was also requesting a “Children At Play” sign at the entrance.
Busby made the motion to allow County Engineer Larry Britt meet with HOA to see what type of speed bump would work best and where it should be located. The supervisors voted to approve the speed bump subject to Britt’s approval.
After the meeting, Busby said the Board generally only approves speed bumps when the request comes from a subdivision’s HOA after it’s been voted on and recommended by the HOA.
