The search for a new defense coordinator at Ole Miss is over as head coach Matt Luke reportedly hired former University of Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre over the weekend.
Per reports, MacIntyre agreed to a three year deal to come to Oxford after spending Thursday and Friday of last week interviewing with the Rebels staff.
MacIntyre replaces Wesley McGriff who spent two seasons with the Rebels. McGriff was let go after the Egg Bowl loss to Mississippi State on Thanksgiving.
MacIntyre comes to Rebel Nation after being let go as the head coach in November by the University of Colorado. He spent almost six seasons at the helm for the Buffaloes.
In 2016, MacIntrye led Colorado to the Pac-12 championship game and earned AP College Football Coach of the Year honors. During his tenure, he guided the Buffaloes’ to a 30-44 overall record.
Prior to arriving at Colorado, he spent three seasons at San Jose State from 2010-12. MacIntyre spent four seasons in Oxford (1999-2002) serving as the wide receivers coach for two seasons and the defensive secondary coach in his final two years.
Luke and MacIntyre worked together as assistants at Ole Miss and Duke prior to reuniting back in Oxford.
