Ole Miss Welcomes Louisiana for Annual Kids Day Game

The Ole Miss women’s basketball team plays host to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns tomorrow, Dec. 12 in the annual kids day game at the Pavilion. Tip-off is at 11 a.m. on the SEC Network+.
Ole Miss (4-6) is coming off a 74-51 win over Savannah State on Saturday. Senior Crystal Allen had a career-high 27 points in the game along with eight rebounds and six assists.
This season Ole Miss head coach Yolette McPhee-McCuin’s squad has three newcomers in Allen (176 points) Jhileya Dunlap (79 points) and La’Karis Salter (70 points) Collectively, they have accounted for 55.1 percent of all Rebel scoring.
Louisiana comes into the Pavilion with a 2-6 record to start the season. The Ragin’ Cajuns have two double-digit scorers on the season in Ty’Reona Ducet (16.1) and Brandi Williams (11.4). Ducet opened the season with six straight double-doubles and is averaging 12 rebounds per contest.
Ole Miss and Louisiana have faced one another on the hardwood four times with the Rebels leading the all-time series at 3-1. The Ragin’ Cajuns won the last meeting in 2015 by the score 82-78.
The annual Kids Day game has turned into a historically attended game, growing exponentially from its beginnings. Ole Miss has shattered its women’s basketball overall attendance record at Kids Day in each of the last four years, the most recent being the 8,229 who came to watch the Rebels beat Southern Miss, 68-59 last December.
In total, Ole Miss has brought in 67,111 fans in 15 iterations of Kids Day, an average of 4,744.1 each year. In two years in The Pavilion at Ole Miss, the Rebels are averaging 8,158.5, and the previous 13 seasons in the Tad Smith Coliseum saw an average of 3,907.2, according to Ole Miss Athletics.
