Oxford Crime and Fire Reports for Dec. 7-9

The following reports were made Dec. 7-9, 2018, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies, unless otherwise noted.

Oxford Police Department issued 153 tickets, investigated 41 wrecks and the following reports from Dec. 5-9:
5 911 hang-ups
1 abandoned vehicle
14 alarms
7 ambulance assists
4 animal complaints
1 careless driving
3 civil matters
1 credit card fraud
2 disturbances
13 disturbing the peace complaints
1 domestic disturbance
2 domestic violence with simple assault
1 fire department assist
3 harassments
4 improper parking complaints
2 K9 searches
2 larcenies
5 lost properties
4 malicious mischief complaints
7 motorist assists
1 residential burglary
1 scam
1 shoplifting
15 suspicious activities
2 suspicious people
4 suspicious vehicles
2 vehicle searches
13 welfare checks

OPD officers made the following arrests:
1 carrying a concealed weapon
1 disorderly conduct- failure to comply
2 for disturbing the peace
1 DUI and expired tag
1 DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and no headlights
1 DUI and speeding
1 DUI, speeding, no insurance and fake ID
1 embezzlement
2 for possession of drug paraphernalia
2 for possession of drug paraphernalia and no seat belt
1 public drunk
2 public drunks with a fake ID
1 warrant served and no tag

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made no arrests, investigated eight wrecks and the following reports:
7 alarms
1 animal complaint
7 disturbances
2 petty thefts
3 harassments
1 juvenile complaint
2 service calls
8 suspicious activities
1 welfare concern
4 informational reports
3 reckless driving complaints

University Police Department officers responded to one wreck and the following reports:
1 vandalism
1 fire alarm
1 suspicious person
1 EMS call
1 noise complaint

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
12/7- 09:19 a.m. – Highway 6 / Thacker Loop – wreck with injury call – no injuries
12/7 – 11:21 a.m.- 118 Oxford Creek Drive – bug bomb activated a smoke detector
12/7 – 11:25 a.m. – Residential College South – heat duct detector malfunction
12/7 – 13:15 p.m. – Student Union – stuck elevator – elevator tech already on scene
12/7 – 14:02 p.m. – Highway 7 N at CR 178 – wreck with smoke coming from a vehicle – no fire just radiator steam
12/7 – 16:03 p.m. – Lucky Day Residential – steam from hot water activated a kitchen smoke detector
12/7 – 16:13 p.m. – Business 7 Abbeville – wreck with entrapment call – we were canceled – no entrapment
12/7 – 17:17 p.m. – Lucky Day Residential – accidentally activating the vent-a-hood suppression system activated the water flow alarm
12/7 – 20:35 p.m. – Ajax Dinner – medical call – EMS already on scene
12/8 – 18:08 p.m. – 408 Highway 6 West – wreck with injuries – provided first aid to one patient, stood by for EMS
12/8 – 18:23 p.m. – Highway 6 between S. Lamar and Old Taylor – one-vehicle wreck – EMS already on scene
12/9 – 04:02 a.m. – 1113 Access Road – medical call – EMS already on scene
12/9 – 12:19 p.m. – 3004 Hillmont Drive – medical call – assisted EMS with CPR
