The city of Oxford will be holding a public meeting Tuesday to allow residents living in the newly annexed areas a chance to see what zoning might be applied to their property.
The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center. Maps will be on display of all the annexed areas and their proposed zoning categories. Residents may come and go between those times.
City staff will be present during the Open House to explain the maps and take questions from citizens.
Currently, all the property that was annexed into the city earlier this year still has the zoning that was put in place by Lafayette County officials. However, those zoning categories will change to fit the city’s zoning map.
“Anyone who owns property that was recently annexed should come to this event,” said assistant city planner Ben Requet, who was recently named Planning Director and will take that position Jan. 1.
Residents will have the opportunity to make comments about their properties.
“Those comments will be compiled, reviewed and presented to the Planning Commission, the mayor and the Oxford Board of Aldermen as the process proceeds,” Requet said.
Those residents who cannot attend Tuesday’s open house can view the proposed zoning map on the city’s website or in person at City Hall where they can speak to planning staff. Comments, questions, and requests for modifications can be emailed to planning@oxfordms.net or by calling the Planning Department at 662-232-2305.
