As students sulk over textbooks, notes and flashcards, there is always light at the end of the tunnel of finals week: winter break and holiday cocktails.
Finishing finals is exciting and relieving. Hottytoddy.com has an easy, delicious cocktail to celebrate the end of study season: a Dark ‘n’ Stormy.
With finals week feeling like being trapped on a boat in the middle of the ocean during a treacherous storm, the obvious choice for a cocktail was this rum-based drink.
As the official drink of Bermuda, this classic cocktail has the perfect balance of rum, specifically Gosling’s dark rum and ginger beer.
According to a legend, the name Dark ‘n’ Stormy was coined by a sailor sometime after WWI who, while enjoying the cocktail, commented that it was the “color of a cloud only a fool or a dead man would sail under.”
Ingredients
2 ounces of Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
½ ounce fresh lime juice
3 ounces Ginger Beer
Ice
1 candied ginger slice
1 lime wheel
Directions
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the rum and lime juice and shake well. Strain into an ice-filled collins glass. Stir in the ginger beer. Skewer the ginger slice and lime wheel and garnish the cocktail.
