First Half Break Down of the 2018 Egg Bowl

Ole Miss welcomed the No. 18 Mississippi State Bulldogs to Oxford for a Thanksgiving match up of the annual Egg Bowl. The Bulldogs took a 21-3 advantage going into the locker room at the half.

Ole Miss received the opening kickoff and used an air attack on the Mississippi State defense but was unable to score on the opening drive.

Mississippi State put the first and only points of the opening quarter up at the 5:02 mark by running back Kylin Hill on a six-yard dash to pay dirt. 

The Bulldogs attacked the Ole Miss defense with 122 yards on the ground and 28 yards through the air in the first quarter. Mississippi State scored early in the second quarter on an eight-yard run by quarterback Nick Fitzgerald.

Ole Miss was able to get on the scoreboard on a 32-yard field goal by Luke Logan with 6:46 left till halftime. Mississippi State answered with the final score of the half on a nine-yard pass from Fitzgerald to Deddrick Thomas.

Ole Miss’s senior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu injured his pinky on his right hand early in the game. Ta’amu finished the half going 8-for-16 for 87 yards.

Mississippi State finished the half with 247 total yards to the Rebels 131 yards.
