Free Shuttles Available Thursday for Egg Bowl
With large crowds expected in Oxford this weekend when the Ole Miss Rebels take on Mississippi State during the annual Egg Bowl, the Oxford Police Department and the city of Oxford are encouraging folks to use the free shuttle system to back and forth to Thursday’s game.
The Double Decker buses will run from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at no cost from the Square to campus and back before the game and during the game; however, there will be no double-decker shuttle after the game.
Fans may park at FNC Park on Old Sardis Road, the South Oxford Center (old Baptist Hospital) and the Jackson Avenue Center for free shuttle parking at 2 p.m.
There is no parking on Chucky Mullins due to construction. Be aware of posted no parking zones, and if you are unsure, call the department to verify. Vehicles will be towed from designated no parking areas at the owner’s expense.
City taxi pick-up and drop off will be at the intersection of Old Taylor Road and University Avenue. No other locations on the city streets are for pick up and drop off. If traffic is disrupted a ticket will be issued. Uber and Lyft should use the JAC lot and passengers can take the shuttle to campus.
Backpacks and track bags are not allowed on shuttles or in the stadium. Ole Miss is still implementing the clear bag policy. Oxford Police want to remind everyone to put valuables in the trunk and lock your cars.
After the game, be cautious of police officers directing traffic in the road at the intersection of Jackson Ave and Highway 6. Hathorn Road will not be able to exit at Chucky Mullins; you must go to West Jackson Avenue Old Taylor Rd traffic must take Belk Boulevard to South Lamar.
