The Ole Miss women’s basketball team defeated the Temple Owls 62-55 Wednesday night in the Pavilion.
Ole Miss (2-1) came out strong in the first quarter against the Owls. Redshirt senior Crystal Allen led with 16 points that set the pace for the entire game.
The Rebels had two other players who scored double figures—La’Karis Salter with 14 points and Cecilia Muhate with 10.
“We knew that Temple was on a two-game winning streak and I told the ladies that we don’t have to be better than them, we just need to be better than them tonight,” head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin said.
Temple made a strong push in the middle quarters of the game by outscoring Ole Miss 32-24. Coach McPhee-McCuin’s squad was able to withstand a push to get within three points with 5:49 left in the game.
The Owls were led on the floor by Mia Davis with 22 points and Marissa Mackins with 15.
Ole Miss returns to action Sunday, Nov. 18 as they host Western Michigan in the Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
