The ceremony gave honor to worn and tattered flags, that are no longer in good condition to be raised. The flags are cut into strips that represent the 13 colonies and the field of starts are burned.

Members of Girls Scouts Heart of the South led the Pledge of Allegiance at the flag retirement ceremony. Photo provided.

The Oxford Fire Department was on hand to help with the fire pit and Taps was played on trumpet to end the ceremony.
