The University of Mississippi was recently ranked the No. 4 best university in the state of Mississippi by Wallethub, a personal finance website. Mississippi College, William Carey University and Millsaps College took the top three spots for the Magnolia State, respectively.
Ole Miss’ ranking on a national level fell in comparison to many other universities at No. 497 overall.
Wallethub used 30 key measures to compare nearly 1,000 higher learning institutions across the U.S. The key measurements were grouped into seven categories, which included student selectivity, cost and financing, and career outcomes.
According to the website, it also analyzed post attendance metrics—the student loan default rate and the share of former students out-earning high school graduates. This showed the value of education students can expect to receive beyond their undergraduate studies.
Wallethub ranked the following institutions as the top 10 colleges and universities in Mississippi:
Massachusetts Institution of Technology, Princeton University and Yale University ranked in the top three spots in the U.S., respectively.

Who cares? Ole Miss is ranked 497th in the nation. That sucks. It really doesn’t matter where State or anyone else is ranked.
