The Lafayette Commodores return to action this week to take on the Center Hill Mustangs. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
Lafayette is coming off a 55-21 victory over the Grenada Chargers. The Commodores were led by junior quarterback Randy Anderson with 206 total yards in the game.
“I thought we played very well against Grenada,” Commodores head coach Michael Fair said. “We were physical on both sides of the line of scrimmage and our guys played very hard.”
The past three weeks the Commodores have rolled past their opponents in each contest.
“Our practices have been the best that we’ve had all year and it seems like all of the guys are realizing that the better they practice, the better they play,” Fair said.
Center Hill (5-4, 2-2) steps on the field after defeating Lewisburg 27-17 last week. The Mustangs are a triple-option base offense. Senior running back Justin Buckingham has rushed for 386 yards this season and averages 48.3 yards per game.
“They pose several problems for us,” Fair said. “It’s an offense that we only see once a year and it takes great preparation to be able to defend it. We practiced well this week and I believe our guys are ready to play.”
