Couple Attempt and Fail Shop-And-Dash

The Oxford Police Department arrested a man and woman Wednesday for allegedly loading up a Walmart shopping cart and leaving the store without paying.
According to reports, Jermaine Dowdy, 33, and Margaret Jefferson, 54, both of Holly Springs, pushed a shopping cart out of the store with $1,459 worth of merchandise and were loading it into a vehicle when officers approached them.
Dowdy and Jefferson were charged with felony shoplifting and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where they were both booked on $2,500 bonds.
