Oxford Crime & Emergency Reports for Sept. 5, 2018
The following reports were made Sept. 5, 2018, by city, university and county law enforcement agencies.
Oxford Police Department issued 31 tickets, investigated nine wrecks and the following reports:
1 911 hang-up
4 alarms
1 animal complaint
1 civil matter
1 code enforcement violation
1 credit card fraud
3 disturbing the peace complaints
1 improper parking complaint
3 larcenies
1 lost property
1 scam
1 shoplifting
1 simple assault
1 suspicious activity
2 suspicious people
3 welfare checks
OPD made the following arrests:
1 DUI and careful driving
1 possession of marijuana with intent and possession of schedule 1 drug
1 possession of drug paraphernalia, fake ID, no tag, no driver’s license and no insurance
1 possession of a drug paraphernalia, no insurance and running a red light
Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department investigated two wrecks and the following reports:
1 simple assault
1 alarm
2 animal complaints
1 residential burglary (CR 442)
3 service calls
2 suspicious activities
1 trespassing
1 reckless driving
1 road obstruction
1 civil matter
1 assistance call for other agency
University Police Department investigated one wreck and the following reports:
3 vandalism reports
1 stalking
1 harassing phone calls
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
08:47 – Regions Courthouse Square – smell of gas – nothing found
11:04 – 2300 area of West Jackson – wreck with injuries – provided first aid and stood by for MS
11:06 – The Retreat – testing the alarm system
21:00 – 726A Clearbrook – smell of gas or something burning – a/c unit was out of freon and frozen
