Oxford High School Junior Selected to Serve as Page for US Senate
OHS student Carole “Addison” Murphey has been selected to serve as a page for the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. this fall and winter. Her term begins Sept. 3, and concludes Jan. 25. She is one of 30 students selected nationally.
Murphey will be relocating to Washington, D.C. next week to attend the United States Senate Page School while she serves as a page. She is the daughter of Hon. and Mrs. Smith Murphey.
“We are very excited for her to undertake this wonderful opportunity and know she will learn so much from her experience serving as a United States Senate page,” Murphey’s mother said.
Murphey originally applied for the Senate page position through the office of Senator Thad Cochran (retired April 1, 2018). Her application was forwarded to Senator Roger Wicker for sponsorship. In 2016, Murphey served as a Mississippi Senate page for the Hon. Tate Reeves and in 2017 as a Mississippi House of Representatives page for the Hon. Thomas U. “Tommy” Reynolds.
