Team Doctors Greet Fans with Carpool Commodore Care Packages
Commodore fans received an early morning surprise when they pulled up to school on Friday morning. The team doctors and staff from Oxford Orthopaedics were there to greet them with a carpool commodore care package and cheers of “good morning” and “go commodores” in a show of support for the Lafayette High School season opener that night.
Wearing “Go Dores” branded T-shirts printed for the occasion, the team from Oxford Orthopaedics cheerfully greeted each car and handed them a boost for the day with a bottle of water and a granola bar. As the official doctors for Lafayette High School athletic teams, Oxford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine provide care for student-athletes in time of injury, but they also go beyond the field to support both athletes and the families in the Lafayette School District.
Recently, Oxford Orthopaedics donated a concussion software diagnostic and treatment program for the school athletes. Now, with carpool care packages, they are extending their commitment to the families of student-athletes.
“Our commitment to care goes beyond the team. We care about the entire Commodore community” said Daniel Boyd, orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine expert. “We hope our efforts this morning put a smile on the faces of Commodore parents and inspire them to join us at the game to support our team”.
“We care for students and their families,” said Steven Blackwood, a new addition to the orthopaedic team at Oxford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. “We want to help them succeed in any way we can.”
As the football season and school year progress, Oxford Orthopaedics plans to be there to support the Commodores and the families in the Lafayette Oxford University area.
