Dr. Catherine Moring, who received her PhD in health from Ole Miss, presents the first session of “Health and Healing with Food”—a free workshop geared to educate Mississippians on how to control inflammation— on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at The Edison, which is a partnership with the Wellness Center of Oxford.
Moring, who is co-owner of Wellness Center based in Charleston, Mississippi has lead similar workshops, she said.
“We’ve had some clients lose 50 to 100 pounds,” Moring said.
The workshop is designed to educate and empower people to make sustainable lifestyle changes and learn about the link between diet and inflammation (disease), Moring said.
Moring said this will be the first installment of a series of workshops partnered with the Wellness Center of Oxford.
“We’re looking for ways to educate and empower Mississippians to be healthier,” she said. “Because a lot of our suffering and conditions we all struggle with is directly related to inflammation, which is often triggered by the foods that we eat.”
The workshop will educate attendees on specific foods that cause inflammation and how to adopt sustainable diets around the disease, she said.
Moring said the workshop will discuss what inflammation is and how it manifests differently for different individuals.
