High School Football Kicked Off

The start of the 2018 high school football season kicked off this week. Local area teams took to the gridiron.
Oxford traveled down to Vicksburg to take on Warren Central in the “Red Carpet Bowl”. Warren Central got off to an early 14-0 lead but the Chargers scored on a John Meagher 8-yard touchdown but could not connect on the extra point.
The game had a lightning delay early but was called due to weather at the 10:13 mark in the third quarter.
Lafayette played host to Cleveland Central to open their season. The Commodores jumped out to an early 11-0 advantage in the game. Lafayette did not look back as they moved to 1-0 on the season with a 48-6 victory.
Water Valley welcomed in Europe and the Blue Devils did not wait long to start lighting up the scoreboard as they jumped out to a 13-0 advantage in the second quarter. The game finished with a 34-8 win for WV.
