Ole Miss junior offensive tackle Greg Little is one of 47 players on the initial watch list for the 2018 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler announced on Tuesday.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
Little, a junior from Allen, Texas, has appeared in every game at left tackle since arriving in Oxford two years ago. Little earned preseason All-America first team honors from the Sporting News and second-team accolades from Lindy’s, Athlon and Phil Steele.
Throughout the 2017 campaign, Little helped protect the Ole Miss quarterbacks that led the SEC and ranked 11th nationally in passing as a unit (328.4 ypg).
The watch list will be narrowed to up to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to five finalists in December. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for Jan. 9, 2019.
Ole Miss will open the 2018 season vs. Texas Tech in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff, in Houston, on Sept. 1. Kick is slated for 11 a.m. and will be televised on ESPN.
