Freshmen from all over the country are currently pouring into the Ole Miss campus as they move in their new residence halls.
Freshman Chamiya Brownlee’s grandmother, Lois Bowlles, said it has been an exciting process moving her granddaughter into her residence hall.
“It only took about 30 minutes to move her in,” she said.
Dumpsters were filled with boxes from students unpacking and unloading into Martin Hall, Residential Halls 2 and 3, and Minor and Pittman Halls.
After Five—a Jackson based designer business—has recently lent its expertise to students moving into dorms. From decor to bedding, the designer company transforms bare walls into swanky rooms for many Ole Miss students.
Foot traffic has increased as students continue to move into dorms and apartments. The University Police Department tweeted earlier today to be mindful of pedestrians and increased traffic around campus.
Students will continue to be moving into their respective resident halls for the remainder of the week. UM Emergency Management Service also tweeted out a list of suggestions freshman should do while moving onto campus.
Organizations around campus are also taking note of students moving onto campus and prepare for welcome ceremonies such as Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Delta sororities.
