The Gertrude C. Ford Center of the Performing Arts announced Wednesday, Aug. 14, that tickets are now available for the 2018-2019 theatre and performance season.
This year’s season is filled with a plethora of shows that include musicals, jazz bands and classical pieces such as orchestras and dance selections, according to Kate Meacham, marketing director for the Ford Center.
The performance art theatre uses a formula to decide on the shows they want to bring to the LOU community, she said. The formula is built on the appeal of the shows, community suggestions and preferences, current touring shows, and shows that reach broad audiences.
Meacham said this year’s collection of shows and performances “just fell into place,” unlike past seasons.
This year’s season is filled with shows like The Wizard of Oz, Jersey Boys and the opening show Robert Frost: This Verse Business.
Meacham said the Ford Center is excited to bring The Wizard of Oz to Oxford because it was recently shown on Broadway and has been revamped for touring purposes.
The Ford Center is also excited to bring the Junie B. Jones show—a children’s book series written by Barbara Park and illustrated by Denise Brunkus—to the LOU community, as well.
“[Junie B. Jones] is a true family performance show,” Meacham said.
