Two Oxford residents were arrested Thursday after local narcotic officers seized 20,000 units of Xanax and 2 pounds of marijuana at their home.
According to the Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit, a joint investigation with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the Oxford Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, led the arrests of Oxford residents Brandon Lawrence and Adrianna Amos.
Officers allegedly discovered approximately 20,000 dosage units of alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, and 2 pounds of marijuana at the couple’s residence on Thursday. Officers also found $14,880 in the home.
The street value of the alprazolam – used to treat anxiety and panic disorders – is valued between $60,000 and $80,000 and the marijuana is valued at $4,000, according to the Metro Narcotics Unit.
Lawrence and Amos were both charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center. A Lafayette County Justice Court judge set their bonds at $15,000 each.
Lawrence and Amos have both made bond.
