Cannon Motors Announces 2018 Cannon Canine Competition
Michael Joe Cannon, CEO of Cannon Motors of Mississippi announced the registration for the 2018 Cannon Canine Competition in Oxford-Lafayette County, which took effect on Wednesday, Aug. 1.
“This inaugural writing contest is open to the public and we encourage everyone to tell us an exciting story about their dog,” Cannon stated.
More than one story may be submitted along with an entry fee of $10 per registration. All money raised will benefit the canine winner’s choice of a rescue organization in the LOU community.
Four winners will be selected with the frontrunner being named the 2018 Cannon Canine for one year. The winner will be featured in a Cannon Commercial; Cannon Ad, ride in a Cannon vehicle in the Christmas Parade and have a portrait painted by Rosie Vassallo. The other winners will receive exciting prizes.
The Cannon Canine Competition Ceremony will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cannon Chevrolet Dealership located at 100 North Thacker Loop in Oxford.
Contestants are asked to write an essay about why their dog should be selected as the 2018 Cannon Canine. Dogs that are deceased will not be eligible.
All entries must be original and unpublished works and written on the official entry form. Entries must be written in English. All entries will be judged on the basis of creativity and be no more than 100* words in length.
* Word count excludes titles. Texts above the specified word count will be disqualified. Microsoft Word will be utilized to verify word counts.
All winners, their dogs and their families will be invited to an awards ceremony.
Entries can be picked up at either Cannon Chevy or Cannon Nissan dealership or from the Cannon Motors website or Facebook page. All entries must be dropped off to either Cannon Motors Company dealership along with a $10 entry fee per registration. The deadline for entries is Nov. 1.
