That time of year for school to be back in session is upon us. This afternoon Community Church Oxford is hosting its annual Back to School Bash at the Old Armory Pavilion from 5-7 p.m.
The bash will offer bounce houses, an obstacle course, free food, games, candy, free snow cones from SnoBiz, and a photo station.
“Last year, we had over 400 kids and parents show up,” Misty Parmer, director of Next Generation Ministry, said. “(We) ran out of food and had to go buy more, but we looked at that as a “good problem” to have. We ended up serving over 40 children in our community, and we are hoping to reach even more this year.
“At Community Church, we believe God truly does seek after us. Therefore we should seek after others. This includes seeking those in our community who may need extra help in buying school supplies, especially families with multiple children,” she said.
Another part of the event is offering assistance to families who may need help with supplies including backpacks, lunch-boxes, and other school supplies, according to Parmer.
The Church asks families who want to attend to stop by the registration table, fill out an information card and enter for door prizes.
“This is just a fun and exciting way to meet others in our community, to serve others in our community, and to love those in our community,” Parmer said. “We can’t wait to see everyone there tonight!”
