Ole Miss senior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu is looking forward to taking the field this fall as the catalyst for the team.

Last season, Ta’amu played in eight games and became the starter after Shea Patterson went down against LSU.
“Going in there I was a bit nervous, I’m not going to lie,” Ta’amu said. “But I had to look back on my training and I knew what goals were in front of me. I trained every game like I was going to start, so just having that opportunity, getting there, I knew what I was getting myself into.”
Ta’amu finished the season passing for 1,751 yards with 14 touchdowns in his limited role. During the off-season, he has embraced the starting quarterback role for the red and blue.
“My work ethic is still going to be the same,” he said. “I treated last season like I was going in every game like I was going to start, and this season I am going to start. So I’m excited to start the season off with my team and Coach Luke in front of me.”
On the third Saturday in September the Rebels open up conference play as they welcome Alabama to the Vaught. For Ta’amu it will be a big game against Alabama’s Tua Tagovailo, as they both dreamed of one-day taking center stage.
“Me and Tua have a great relationship,” Ta’amu said. “He’s a great guy. If he is the starting quarterback, I’m excited to play against him. Hawaii versus Hawaii, and it’ll be exciting. I know the fans back home are excited about that game as well.”
