Oxford Crime Reports for July 12, 2018

The following reports were made Thursday, July 12, 2018, by city and county law enforcement agencies. 

Oxford Police Department investigated six wrecks, issued 34 tickets, made one arrest for disturbing the peace and responded to the following calls:

1 animal complaint
3 disturbing the peace complaints
1 domestic disturbance
1 lost property
1 malicious mischief
2 other agency assist
1 petty theft
1 shoplifting
1 simple assault
1 suspicious activity
1 theft from a vehicle
2 welfare checks

OPD made the following arrests:
1 DUI and no insurance
1 no driver’s license
1 possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed a weapon, no taillights, no insurance and expired tag
1 possession of drug paraphernalia
2 public drunks
1 warrant

Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department made one arrest for domestic violence with simple assault and investigated the following reports:

1 animal complaint
2 disturbances
2 domestic violence
1 petty theft
1 harassment
1 welfare check
3 transports
1 trespassing
2 information
6 follow-ups
2 reckless driving complaints
1 court details
1 road obstruction
1 civil matter

University Police Department investigated two wrecks, one noise complaint and responded to one medical call.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
8:57 a.m. to First Baptist Church after workers activated a smoke detector
12:23 p.m. to Canterbury Crest apartments after cooking activated a smoke detector
2:23 p.m. to Winchester for an alarm but canceled en route
