Ole Miss graduate Shadrack “Shad” Tucker White was appointed as the new Mississippi state auditor by Governor Phil Bryant Friday, July 6. White replaces former auditor Stacey Pickering.
White graduated summa cum laude from Ole Miss in 2008 where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics. In addition to graduating from the university as a Truman Scholar, White was also recognized as the university’s 25th Rhodes Scholar.
White, 32, of Rankin County, served as Bryant’s policy advisor during his tenure as lieutenant governor.
He has recently served as the director of the conservative Mississippi Justice Institute, which legally represents citizens and businesses in constitutional rights cases, according to the Institute’s website.
“Shad’s credentials and ability are without question,” Bryant told the Clarion Ledger. “He has proven himself a champion of limited government that serves the taxpayers. He is the perfect fit for this important office.”
White told the media he vows to protect taxpayers and Mississippians from government corruption.
