The softball community lost a friend and athlete Monday evening as Mississippi State outfielder Alex Wilcox passed away at the age of 18.
Wilcox was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2015 as a junior at Brantley High School in Alabama, Mississippi News Now reported. She helped lead her team to several Alabama state titles.
Wilcox was supported by her teammates and the entire softball world. The Ole Miss softball team joined in to support Wilcox by wearing teal ribbons for ovarian cancer.
