Firecracker Bash attendees ate, drank, and danced the night away June 29 at the Lyric to raise money for a good cause in the community, LeapFrog.
LeapFrog is an after school tutoring and enrichment program for at-risk 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders in the Oxford city and Lafayette County schools. The Firecracker Ball is LeapFrog’s main fundraiser to raise awareness and finances for the program, said Teresa Adams, LeapFrog’s director.
Residents Dan and Leigh Lowery were named Mr. and Mrs. America during the Firecracker Bash. Three local couples competed to raise money for the LeapFrog organization, and collectively they raised more than $4,000.
The LeapFrog students’ performance featured a musical skit of Prince’s music.
