Sheriff's Department Files Charges Against LHS Teacher

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, filed charges Wednesday against a Lafayette High School math teacher for allegedly enticing a child to meet for sexual purposes.

On June 4, the sheriff’s department received a report from Lafayette School District Superintendent Adam Pugh concerning a report made to him about a teacher engaging in improper conduct with a male student.
“After an investigation involving the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations, we have signed an affidavit for Molly Wray, 27, of Oxford,” said Sheriff Chief Investigator Alan Wilburn.
The alleged victim was 17 years old at the time of the reported incident.
Wilburn said a probable cause hearing will be held “as soon as a Circuit Court judge becomes available.”
A probable cause hearing is the state’s warrant process when allegations of misconduct are brought against a figure of authority, such as a teacher or law enforcement officer. Much like a grand jury, law enforcement officers will present evidence before a judge to determine if it’s sufficient enough to issue a warrant for Wray’s arrest.
Pugh released a statement saying Wray has resigned from her position at LHS.
“We have been and will continue to work with law enforcement until this issue is resolved,” he said in an email Wednesday. “This is very unfortunate for all parties involved.”

There was a geometry teacher that I would have loved to be a victim of.
