Bianco Addresses Season-Ending Loss at Press Conference
The 2018 Ole Miss baseball season came to a close last week in the Oxford Regional against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. A week later coach Mike Bianco sat down with the local media to discuss end of the year outcomes.
Ole Miss (48-17) won the western division crown and the Southeastern Tournament Championship this season. The diamond Rebels went 7-3 against conference opponents throughout the weekend series.
“In time I think people will look back and say they won 48 games, the most in the history of the program,” Bianco said. “They have only done that two other times.”
High hopes surrounded the Rebels at the Oxford Regional until the Golden Eagles put an abrupt end to the postseason run last Monday.
“Nobody wanted to win more than anybody else wanted to win, but we didn’t,” Bianco said. “I don’t think that’s how we will be remembered. I think that Monday night game still stings a week later, and it stings that college baseball is still going on.”
