YAC Offers Art Classes Beginning Next Week
Just because summer is fully underway doesn’t mean it’s too late to register for summer art camps. Beginning next week Yoknapatawpha Arts Council is offering multiple visual and performance art camps for all ages.
Third-eighth graders are eligible for YAC’s painting and drawing camp. Students will learn to draw with different utensils including charcoal, pencil and marker. Students interested in painting will learn to paint with watercolor and tempera paints. Color theory and composition will also be explored.
For those seeking the spotlight, two different performance-theatre classes are available. Those ages 3-6 can take YAC’s “Drama, Drama Little Llama” class. This camp is designed to give children the fundamental building blocks for creating a character using text and their imagination.
For ages 7 and up, the “Acting Out: Improv & Sketch Comedy” class is available. This camp teaches students the fundamental principles behind improvisation and sketch comedy. The curriculum focuses heavily on imagination, creativity and spontaneity.
