Ryan Rolison Selected By Colorado Rockies
Ole Miss’ LHP Ryan Rolison got the call every baseball player dreams each time he steps on the field. Those on the other end of the line were from a major league baseball organization.
Rolison was selected in the first round with pick 22 by the Colorado Rockies.
The sophomore southpaw anchored the opening weekend rotation for the Rebels all season long. The Jackson, Tennessee native is 10-4 on the season with a 3.70 ERA in 97.1 innings of work.
Rolison struck out 120 batters this season and allowed 45 walks. Opponents only mustered 88 hits and tailed 50 runs on him.
As a freshman, Rolison earned Freshman All-American honors by Collegiate Baseball. He made 19 appearances, including 10 starts (6-3)—the most by any Ole Miss freshman pitcher. He allowed the third-fewest runs (23) among stat-eligible (1.0 inning/game) SEC pitchers.
He was drafted in the 37th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres after graduating from high school.
