The No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels claimed the 2018 SEC Tournament Championship over the LSU Tigers 9-1 Sunday.
Ole Miss (46-15) came out of the loser’s bracket to win the tournament.
Ole Miss found an early offensive burst up and down the line up against the Tigers. Rebels pitcher Houston Roth had a shaky first inning as LSU plated the first run of the game. Roth finished the game allowing one run on 4 hits.
Coach Mike Bianco brought Will Stokes to the mound in relief. Stokes lasted .2 of a inning and allowed a walk.
Ole Miss answered quickly starting in the second inning. Will Golsan got aboard on a single and tied the game on RBI single by Chase Cockrell.
The Rebels tacked on the second run in the top of the third after a base hit by Nick Fortes. Fortes came in from third on a wild pitch that gave Ole Miss a 2-1 lead.
Jacob Adams got into the action with a double to led off the fourth. He advanced to third on a bunt single by Anthony Servideo. Adams scored on a RBI single by Fortes.
Ryan Rolison came in the sixth with a runner on first. He worked out of a bases loaded jam with back-to-back strikeouts.
Golsan put the game away in the seventh with a two-RBI single that scored Fortes and Dillard. Golsan came home on a two-run bomb by Tim Rowe.
Michael Fitzsimmons came up to bat in the ninth as a pinch hitter and smoked a ball into the left field bullpen putting the Rebels up 9-1.
Ole Miss awaits selection Monday to see who will come to Oxford for the regional tournament.
