Riley Allen Returns Home as Strength Coach for Ole Miss Men's Basketball
Oxford native Riley Allen is returning home to join the men’s basketball team as strength coach after spending two seasons at Saint Louis University.
“I truly believe Riley Allen is one of the elite young strength and conditioning coaches in college basketball,” said head men’s basketball coach Kermit Davis. “Raised in Mississippi, Riley obviously has a deep affection for Ole Miss Athletics, and we look forward to fantastic progress this summer with our players.”
Allen will also serve as the strength and conditioning coach for one of the Ole Miss golf teams.
“First, I would like to thank (Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics) Ross Bjork, (Senior Associate A.D. for Health and Sports Performance) Shannon Singletary and Coach Davis for the incredible opportunity to return home and invest in my alma mater’s athletic program,” said Allen. “I have previous experience with the culture Coach Davis is going to instill here at Ole Miss and look forward to supporting that in every way possible. I cannot wait to get to work developing these great student-athletes.”
In September 2016, Allen joined the Saint Louis University staff as assistant director of athletics for sports performance. He served as the department lead in the sports performance area working specifically with the men’s and women’s basketball programs.
Prior to his time at SLU, Allen was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Mississippi State. Other previous stops include Middle Tennessee, Memphis, New Mexico State and Eastern Illinois.
Allen graduated from Lafayette High School in 2008. He went on to earn both his bachelor’s (2011) and master’s (2013) degrees from Ole Miss.
