DeMarquis Gates Signs with Cleveland Browns
Ole Miss’ DeMarquis Gates tackles Georgia running back Nick Chubb as the Rebels take on the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday at Vaught-Hemmingway stadium.
Former Ole Miss linebacker DeMarquis Gates signed with the Cleveland Browns today.
Gates enters as a 6-2, 230-pound rookie into the NFL. During his time at Ole Miss, he tallied 282 tackles, nine pass breakups, six sacks, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 49 career games (2014-2017). He led team in tackles in three consecutive seasons (2015-17), making him the first Rebel to accomplish the feat since Abdul Jackson (1992-94).
At the Ole Miss Pro Day, Gates benched 225 pounds in 17 reps and went undrafted in the NFL Draft last month.
