Ole Miss Soccer Adds UT Goalkeeper to the Roster
On Thursday, Ole Miss soccer coach Matt Mott announced the addition of Tennessee goalkeeper transfer Ashley Orkus to the team. Next season, she will have to redshirt for the Rebels and will be eligible to take the field in 2019 as a sophomore.
“We are thrilled to add Ashley Orkus to our team,” Mott said. “She is an excellent goalkeeper, a great student and someone who I think will fit in perfectly with the culture of our team. Although she will have to sit out this upcoming season, she will certainly compete for the starting goalkeeper spot in 2019.”
Orkus joins the red and blue after spending the 2017 season with the Volunteers. She appeared in four games and did not allow a ball to go through the post in 62 minutes of action. The Vestavia Hills, Alabama native made her first and only save of the season against the Rebels in Knoxville.
In high school, she was an IMG Top-150 prospect for the 2017 class. She was also tabbed as an ECNL Southeast Conference Player to Watch and participated in the PUMA Women’s Showcase.
