Steve Clark has made quite a name for himself in the jewelry industry for years and still is. His wholesale approach to selling jewelry at discounted pricing is turning heads here as Rolex watches and other merchandise are finding new homes, wrists and necklines. HottyToddy.com’s Steve Vassallo stopped by Clark’s store to discuss the jewelry industry.

Vassallo: Steve, share with our readers what buying at wholesale truly means to us, the consumer.
Clark: Wholesale prices to my customers means substantial savings on high quality goods. Customers will be taking advantage of my “45” years of buying directly from diamond cutters, dealers, manufacturers and passing it on to them.
Vassallo: Your gross margins have got to be adversely impacted by selling inventory at such large discounts.

Clark: Yes, I buy at the best possible prices as my profit margin is very small.
Vassallo: Your discounted (wholesale) pricing covers many items other than just the Rolex watch case.
Clark: My main lines are fine quality diamonds, loose or mounted, anyway the customer would like in rings, bracelets, pendants or earrings. I can have made most any jewelry that customers want even I don’t have
the item in stock.
Vassallo: Speaking of Rolex, do you not also discount your servicing of these watches?
Clark: Yes, my service on Rolex repairs is an accommodation and probably less expensive than anywhere!
Vassallo: Your store on College Hill Road (next to Lost Pizza) is simply immaculate. Does it always shine like this?
Clark: Our store is small, but my wife and I try to keep it stocked with unusual jewelry, home accessories, gifts plus art for a relaxed and fun shopping experience.

Vassallo: For those customers interested in gold, diamonds, valuable stones and coins, what advice can you share with them?
Clark: The finer quality items do increase in value each year so it is a good area to invest.
Vassallo: Is investing in jewelry a better financial decision over time compared to the DOW or real estate? And also compared to collectibles such as rare coins and antiques?
Clark: You can watch your jewelry increase in value and enjoy wearing at the same time.
Although Clark Jewelry is a small store in terms of square footage, it packs a huge punch called “savings” especially when budgets come into play.
