Thacker Mountain Radio Hour Performs Pop Up Show Thursday

The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour will perform a special pop-up show this Thursday, May 17 at 6 pm on the rooftop of the Graduate Hotel in Oxford (400 N. Lamar Blvd Oxford, MS, 38655). Admission is free but seating will be limited. (Rain site: lobby of the Graduate).

Guests will include chef/author Ed Lee, celebrity nanny/author Connie Simpson, and roots duo The War and Treaty. Hosts of the show are Jim Dees and Thacker house band, the Yalobushwhackers. There will be no live broadcast; this show will be recorded for air on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.
The Thacker Graduate show is sponsored by Move On Up Mississippi, a nonprofit organization founded by Oxford chef John Currence that inspires and funds educational initiatives to realize a healthier future for Mississippi children. Chef Edward Lee


Chef Edward Lee, a James Beard award nominee, is the author of Buttermilk Graffiti (Artisan) the story of a new American culinary landscape told in sixteen personal and thought-provoking narratives accompanied by 40 recipes. Lee’s previous book is Smoke and Pickles, also a collection of stories and recipes.  
Lee is the chef/owner of the restaurants, 610 Magnolia, MilkWood, and Whiskey Dry in Louisville, Kentucky; and culinary director of Succotash in National Harbor, Maryland, and Penn Quarter in Washington, DC. Lee earned an Emmy nomination for his role in the Emmy Award-winning TV series, The Mind of a Chef. Most recently, he wrote and hosted the feature documentary, Fermented. Lee lives in Louisville and Washington, DC.

Nanny Connie Simpson


Connie Simpson is the author of The Nanny Connie Way – Secrets to Mastering the First Four Months of Parenthood (Gallery Books), Simpson is from Mobile, Alabama, where she says she learned the importance of manners, wisdom, compassion, love, and patience in abundance. These values have made her one of the most in-demand baby nurses and a trusted family member to many Hollywood celebrities, including Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, and most recently Amal and George Clooney.
Her book is a go-to, first-time-parent-proof baby manual that tackles breastfeeding, pacifiers, nighttime sleeping, and of course, explosive diapers.

The War and Treaty


The War and Treaty are the husband and wife duo of Tanya Blount and Michael Trotter Jr. Their most recent release is the five-song EP, Down to the River. The disc blends roots music, bluegrass, folk, gospel and soul. The War and Treaty’s live shows are highlighted by the incredible vocal interplay of the duo’s soaring voices.
The next live performance for The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour will be Saturday, June 16 in Clinton, MS with Oxford author Michael Farris Smith, bluesman Mr. Sipp, and New Orleans band, the Panorama Jazz Band.
