Miller Family Blessed with Unexpected Surprise
Oxford resident Maggie Miller, a mother of four, experienced a unique road to motherhood with challenges that eventually turned into blessings.
Growing up in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Miller wanted to be a mother ever since she was the “proud” owner of a set of triplet baby dolls as a toddler. She moved to Oxford to attend The University of Mississippi in 2003 where she met her husband. The couple married in 2008 and has been apart of the Oxford community since.
Miller coincidentally now has triplets of her own (plus one more); she welcomed Posey, Miles and Mark Miller to the world on May 1, 2012. Just two years later, her son Simms was born.
“They were the answer to so very many prayers and also the fulfillment of one of my lifelong dreams,” Miller said.
Miller underwent a lengthy period of time where she was unable to conceive, which is why she was ecstatic when she found out she was having triplets.
Since then, Miller has learned a lot from being a mother.
“One of the hardest things I’ve found is sicknesses. When one of mine gets sick, they all end up getting sick,” Miller said. “Learning to parent each of my four children according to their unique style is also challenging. God made them each so different, so I’ve had to evaluate when I need to discipline or when I need to love.”
Miller says that children are the best teachers and that every mother should learn to enjoy the time they have with their children.
“Motherhood has taught me so much, but my most favorite thing it has shown me is love,” Miller said. “Nothing compares to the love a mother has for her children, and I can only pray that my children will look back on their own childhoods and remember a mother who did and will always love them so fiercely.”
